Good news! National Lottery Funding secured for Gamrie Gardens parking and access

We’re delighted to announce that Gamrie Gardens CIC has been awarded £15,860 from The National Lottery Community Fund to create a dedicated parking area and improve access to the gardens.

This is a big step forward in making Gamrie Gardens more accessible and opening up new opportunities for our community.

Making Gamrie Gardens more accessible

Over the past four years, Gamrie Gardens has grown into a community space for allotment growing, volunteering, wildlife and connecting with nature. However, limited parking has made it difficult for some people to visit and get involved, particularly older people, families with young children and anyone with reduced mobility.

This funding will help us create a dedicated parking area and a safer, more accessible entrance, making it easier for people to enjoy the gardens and take part in activities.

Opening up more opportunities

With better access, we’ll be able to welcome new allotment holders, expand volunteering opportunities and develop more workshops and educational visits with local schools and community groups.

The project has been shaped by conversations with our allotment holders, volunteers, visitors and the wider community. In our recent community survey, everyone who responded supported the continued development of Gamrie Gardens, with parking and access identified as a key barrier to wider participation.

We’re excited to take this next step towards making Gamrie Gardens a welcoming community resource for years to come.

Thank you!

A huge thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund and the National Lottery players who make this funding possible. We’re also grateful to everyone who has supported Gamrie Gardens along the way.

With funding secured, planning permission in place and a local contractor ready to get started, we’re looking forward to making this long-awaited improvement a reality.
